What a fashion week. The last few days saw London’s streets come alive to the beat of the fashion drum as a host of international celebrities, designers, media and buyers jetted into the capital for a week of shows, presentations and parties.
Olivia Palermo, Ella Eyre, Eliza Cummings and Corinne Bailey Rae
The week kicked off with the highly anticipated return of Roland Mouret, who according to the Guardian brought high voltage to a grey Sunday. Donatella Versace always brings a sense of vitality and fun to all she does so to have her in London was exciting for all of us. That is not to say that London Fashion Week did not have its serious moments. Dame Natalie Massenet spoke out on the importance of continued inclusiveness and diversity in fashion.
London Fashion AW17 backstage
Speaking of which I am not sure I have seen such a diverse and colourful A/W season for a good few years. All of our designers seem to be in a bold and defiant mood. Story telling, rainbow colours and strong casting were all played out at full volume.
House of Holland London Fashion Week AW17 show
House of Holland championed bold statements by marrying Dollyland and Nashville with a trouser swinging extravaganza, whilst PPQ was all about a monochrome London attitude. Jasper Conran on the other hand reminded us of his talents through sharp tailoring given an edge through his judicial use of bold colour.
Preen London Fashion Week AW17 show
Preen was all about the empowerment of women, a theme that continued with British favourite Alice Temperley, whose story of female portraiture provided the escape to fantasy so needed in our turbulent times, whilst Alice Archer defined her tales of training with Tracey Emin through impeccable embroidery.
