Dressing up for the Occasion
All Dressed Up
Whatever the shindig or occasion, we’ve got your style guide sorted!
Whether you were lucky enough to land an invite to the Royal Wedding or not, summer marks the start of the season of dressing up. It’s that time of year again when you’ll be spending most weekends at weddings, suiting up for the races or putting on your best frock for a good old British garden party. And this year is no exception; with the Royal Wedding on the forefront of everyone's mind, never has your occasionwear been more important.
Take inspiration from the soon to be princess, Meghan Markle, and work midi lengths into your summer formal wear. Whether you opt for a dress or a two-piece, a mid-length hemline automatically adds an air of sophistication to any outfit. Nipped in waists are also a must to mirror that regal style. Try opting for a simple belt or an A-line skirt to achieve this look.
The key to an occasion outfit is the accessories you choose. A designer clutch bag or delicate sandal will help to elevate a simple dress to anything but ordinary.
Invest in a couple of great jackets. The classic navy blazer never goes out of style and will give you a too-cool-to-care, preppy air whatever your age. Or work the check trend, especially if you’re at a countryside garden party or wedding. These occasions have a more relaxed feel. A blazer or sportcoat is just the ticket to pull your outfit together and keep you warm after the late afternoon sun has gone down!
Whatever you do, don't scrimp on accessories. A statement watch, and elegant pair of brogues will be your go-to pieces for the entire summer season.
