The Earth Day 2022 theme is 'Invest In Our Planet'.

Hotel Chocolat aim to hit Net Zero Carbon by 2030.

• 94% of packaging is currently recyclable or reusable, and the aim is to make that 100% by the end of 2022.  

• Hotel Chocolat are constantly on the hunt for new and innovative ways to reduce and recycle waste. They use every part of the cocoa harvest, blending the tangy pulp into cocktails and crushing the shells of cacao beans to make invigorating body scrubs. Hotel Chocolat never throw away chocolates that are visually imperfect – enjoy them at a discount in their Ugly But Good bags! 

• Cacao can only grow in tropical climates up to 20° north and south of the equator, but all beans are imported through sea freight, which has the lowest carbon footprint of any form of transport.    

• All chocolates are made in the UK. To reduce the carbon footprint and food miles everything except milk is sourced from their central distribution centre.    

• Having reduced our RSPO certified palm oil consumption to less than 0.1% of product by weight, Hotel Chocolat have reformulated all recipes with the goal of achieving zero palm oil by the end of 2023.

• Denby are the first UK tableware manufacturer to claim zero process waste to landfill which helps to save 600 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year.

• Every year Denby recycle over 100,000 litres of glaze during the glazing process to efficiently re-use their resources.

Denby has its own water treatment plant and each year purify and return to the water cycle 20 million litres of process water.

• Denby's energy consumption is industry-leading and consistently at least 15% lower than industry targets set.

• Denby recycle all of their food waste produced in their restaurants and the staff canteen to be turned into energy.
