Seiko’s started out humbly in Japan, 1881, when Kintaro Hattori founded a clock repair store in central Tokyo. Just eleven years later his company made its first clock and, in 1895, its first watch.
Since then Seiko has continuously developed and refined its watchmaking skills in pursuit of the perfect watch.
Seiko has been at the forefront of watch innovation over the decades, creating many world firsts such as the first quartz watch (1969), the world’s first Spring Drive watch (1999) and the world’s first Solar GPS watch (2012).
Today, Seiko builds every part of every watch, from creating the alloy used in the balance spring to the movement, dial, hands and case.
With Kintaro's great grandson, Shinji Hattori as president, Seiko Watch Corporation is still dedicated to the perfection that the founder always strove to achieve.
