#BACKTOART FOR THE RE-GENERATION OF BEAUTY

Come un manto per le lucciole is the latest creation of Olimpia Biasi, an artist from Treviso. It was commissioned by the McArthurGlen Noventa di Piave Designer Outlet within the wider #backtoart initiative – a movement born from Evolve and Recycle your fashion, two sustainability programs that McArthurGlen is implementing to raise awareness towards a deeper understanding of recycling.

Biasi’s work is a handmade piece of tapestry, entirely created with recycled fibers, and entwined with a wire mesh. All the materials were provided by the patron of the project, which gathered dismissed clothes across its outlets.
The target was to go beyond simple recycling and aim to achieve a powerful and ethical expression of art as a symbol of rebirth and regeneration through the breathtaking experience of the creative act.
As the curatorship said: “This piece of art was generated by the idea of nature’s healing power, and the will to create a connection with the act of weaving, that’s both ancient and entwined with the female culture. Mrs. Biasi thinks of this creation as something that’s born through a rite of regeneration; a rebirth that gives a breath of new life to something that was once wasted.”

The initiative is spread across the territory thanks to a close partnership between the McArthurGlen’s Noventa di Piave Designer Outlet and Teatro Stabile del Veneto Foundation - National Theatre, which is displaying Biasi’s art in the Venezia, Padova, and Treviso theatres’ foyer.
