GOING BACK TO WORK IN STYLE

A whole new wardrobe

Back To School isn’t just for the kids. As the crisp, cooler days of autumn are in the air, our thoughts turn to revamping our work wardrobes. Nothing says ‘best in class’ like a new season look. Time to take notes.

Let's hear it for the girls

Boost your mood this season with smart, chic workwear pieces that will elevate your confidence and style credentials in the office. Look for ‘90s inspired elements, such as a Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally tailored blazer or Gwyneth-in-the-’90s ensembles like wide-legged trousers worn with a sleeveless roll neck. And don’t forget Rachel Green’s style. Those A-line skirts and fitted jumpers are just the ticket for the office. Stick to just-above-the-knee or mid-thigh A-line styles, and team with tights rather than bare legs to keep it professional.

If you’re working from home it’s (finally) time to ditch the tracksuit bottoms and elevate your smart casual look. Try super soft knitwear in natural yarns like cashmere or lambswool to stay cosy on chilly days. Relaxed yet elegant maxi skirts or loose fit trousers are the perfect compromise for days when you want to feel like you’ve made an effort but still be comfortable.

Let's hear it for the boys

If you’re office-based, at least some of the time, the autumn/winter trends have you covered. There was a whole host of broad-shouldered silhouettes on the runways at the men’s shows to help you channel those powerful, decision-making vibes in the boardroom. Alternatively, go for some chic double-breasted tailoring with a nod to the ‘70s in shades of chocolate, coffee and mustard.

For those of us hybrid working or WFH then the world is your style oyster. Opt for a chunky knit for cooler days worn with cashmere joggers or easy-to-wear denim. Sweater vests are still a thing and the ideal way to instantly smarten up a casual shirt for those Zoom calls.
