WWF OASIS

The first WWF Oasis in Italy was founded in 1967 when the National Committee approved the WWF's purchase of the hunting rights of Lake Burano, turning it into a bird sanctuary. Since that day, in just over 50 years, another 100 Oases have been created, for a total of 30,000 hectares of land visited each year by over 350,000 people. WWF Oases are intended to conserve and protect the natural heritage of the country, but they are also places to be enjoyed by people. Educational and creative events are held in them to raise awareness among the adults of today and tomorrow about the importance of sustainability and protecting the environment.
