Chunky Knitwear

Women’s knitwear is supersizing for AW21 with chunky ribbed knits and dramatic maxi dresses taking centre stage. It’s a trend that featured on multiple AW21 runways; with everyone from Chloé to Gabriela Hearst showcasing full length knitted dresses in their collections.

That’s not to say any knitted dress will do. As well as a dramatic full sleeve and floor skimming length, colour is also key to this look, with dark tonal and moody shades the ones to aim for. Leave brights on the rack and stock-up on aubergines, greys and classic black, taking your cues from Mint Velvet, Reiss and French Connection’s latest arrivals.

The Roll Neck

This essential winter staple featured on many an AW21 runway, paired with everything from little black dresses to checked suiting. In contrast to the moody hues dominating knitted dresses, roll necks are going colourful this season, with bright pops of yellow, blue, green and red from the likes of Calvin Klein are the ones to aim for.

Elsewhere, a classic black roll neck still holds weight this season (and looks great paired with dramatic coloured co-ords), while tonal styles, as seen at Tommy Hilfiger and Polo Ralph Lauren, make great base layers worn under 90s-inspired grunge dresses.
