Wall Mural | Swindon Designer Outlet

The original artwork depicts a field of flowers, including the iconic purple alliums grown in the nearby National Trust, as well as a pair of swallows complemented by vibrant shades of green, lilac and coral - taking inspiration from Wiltshire's picturesque countryside.

On your next trip to the centre, you will now be able to enjoy the commission of a home-grown artist, all inspired by Sophie Long's appreciation for the beauty of nature. The artwork also offers the perfect backdrop for selfies and guests will be able to enjoy the detailed artwork whilst visiting our premium retail and dining outlets.
"After a year of ongoing lockdown restrictions where it may have been hard for us to see the beauty in the world around us at times, we're proud to have unveiled our installation with local artist Sophie Long in celebration of Swindon and the local region. The artwork is a wonderful way to welcome guests into the centre whilst also strengthening our connection to the local community and ongoing support of local talent. We are looking forward to seeing how guests will engage with the artwork when they next visit us."

Local Artist | Sophie Long

Based in Bristol, Sophie Long is best-known for her use of acrylics, which lends itself to the creation of exuberant, bright animal portraits. Born into a creative family, Sophie is following in her father's footsteps by choosing art as her career path.
"I'm so happy that I got the opportunity to paint something that really captures the surrounding environment at Swindon Designer Outlet. I had such wonderful comments and feedback from so many people, it was so lovely to stop and talk to the many shoppers walking into the outlet. I think after the last couple of years that everyone has had, it's nice to create a talking point inspired by the local nature and generally make people smile."
