McArthurGlen West Midlands have worked closely with Lichfield Festival since 2021 to provide inspiring multi-arts experiences for thousands of people from the Midlands.
Lichfield Festival is a charity that runs an 11-day summer multi-arts festival, a springtime literature festival, a chamber music weekend and an annual Christmas concert.
The creative arts have the power to transform people's lives and our aim is to engage and inspire through enjoyment, performance and participation. Our Young Artists series showcases and supports talented musicians in their early careers, whilst ASPIRE! our learning and participation programme works with schools, community groups and charities on a wide range of projects.
Lichfield Festival will take place in the city between 4-14th July. A melting pot of world-class entertainment and creativity, this summer's Festival mixes music of all kinds, from folk to classical, jazz to gospel, with theatre, literary, community and family events.
Headline acts in the majestic Lichfield Cathedral include the multi-talented Seth Lakeman, sea-shanty singers The Longest Johns, and the captivating George Hinchcliffe’s Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. BBC National Orchestra of Wales perform Elgar’s magnificent Cello Concerto, and Rachel Podger performs Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons with Brecon Baroque.
From Ballet Cymru’s Romeo and Juliet to late-night concerts by acclaimed artists like Jasdeep Singh Degun and Danny Driver, the Festival boasts an array of performances across 11 days.
Across other venues, dive into comedy, cabaret, and theater with offerings from Katie Arnstein and Jessica Walker, while Lizzie Ball and James Pearson return for a glamorous evening celebrating The Magic of the Movies. Our Holst150 season commemorates Gustav Holst's 150th anniversary, with choral music, orchestral performances, and folk arrangements, alongside Jazz nights featuring Jeremy Sassoon's Ray Charles Project and Wendy Kirkland's tribute to Blossom Dearie.
For literary enthusiasts, join discussions with historical writer Tracy Borman, forensic investigator Jo Ward, and others. Plus The Lord Chamberlain’s Men return to present Hamlet as Shakespeare first saw it – in the open air, all male and with Elizabethan costumes, music and dance.
