Colour Blocking

With SS18 collections hitting the stores, it’s not surprising that colour blocking was one of the hottest trends spotted on the streets of London this spring. Primary shades of lego red, sunshine yellow, and cobalt blue were seen in everything from formal coats and lazy knitwear to tailored blazers and pleather pants. With bright micro bags still in front running.

Editors Tip - If head-to-toe cherry red isn't your thing; be brave and add a splash of colour with a bold-block knit or a simple blazer, or play it safe with a playful cross-body or a pair of colourful tailored trousers.

Reworked Retro

Odes to vintage glamour and time-gone-by were echoed with subtle nods to the 50s, 70s and 80s in this season’s street-style silhouettes. High-waisted coloured pant suits were seen, alongside roll-neck jumpers and retro sunglasses, making for an elegant mix of new age style - with a dash of old school elegance. Floral motifs and vintage inspired needlework turned heads with pared-down accessories keeping the retro feel subtle - and never overworn.

Editors Tip: Pair a neutral roll neck jumper with high waisted trousers to perfect workwear dressing. These conservative shapes will lend themselves very well to your office wardrobe.

All Black Everything

This Fashion Week black was everything but boring. Monochromatic tones were mixed up with the use of texture, shape and layering. Faux fur trims and patent finishes were out in force as this season black took on a casual, simple yet stylish, edge for both men and women.

Editors Tip: Don’t spend ages trying to match your blacks. With this trend; the less they match the better.

Oversized Coats

For yet another year, coats were worn large and oversized. With some mirroring the geometric checks of the SS18 runways and others retaining that ever-classic much-loved camel tone. Worn open with layers of knitwear and buttoned up blouses (and the odd appearance of a shoulder pad), this versatile outerwear was a trend welcomed back by all.

Editors Tip: Layering is key for wearing anything oversized. Mixing lengths and heel height helps to keep your outfit looking fresh, season on season.
