Transitional coats
As the leaves begin to brown we see women’s outerwear take its cues from nature with transitional coats for her coming through in a kaleidoscope of autumnal shades. Marc Jacobs and Ryan Roche were among the designers embracing earthy tones in their collections, with preppy-style blazers a key trans-season essential for women.

Natural hues also showed up at Michael Kors and Longchamp, while leather and suede are your go-to fabrics for channelling AW20’s Bohemian Folk trend. If you only invest in one trans-season coat this season, make it a brown suede blazer. This versatile hero piece will transport you effortlessly from work meetings to weekend brunches without missing a beat. Jaeger and Tommy Hilfiger offer a great blazer selection each season, so make them your first port of call.

Winter coats
Shearling collars, faux fur and long-line wool coats are everything he needs to stay stylish and stave off the cold this wintertime. Opt for checked patterns, as seen as Todd Snyder and Y Project, or plump for warm dessert hues in block colours. Both options are a key staple of the American Western trend for AW20 menswear, with a shearling collar a hero detail to complete the look.

Elsewhere, puffer jackets – an icon of the 90s – make a long awaited return this season with Paul Smith among the designers who showcased the nostalgic style during Men’s Fashion Week. Long-line puffers are what you want to aim for, so forgo waist-skimming lengths and look for full height styles at the likes of GAP and Calvin Klein sidestepping neon colours in favour of black this time around.
