Tourism in Normandy: Etretat

Those who've read the adventures of Maurice Leblanc's Arsène Lupin will definitely have guessed that part of the plot would take place in Etretat, on the coast of Upper Normandy.

With the success of the Netflix© series Lupin, which quickly climbed to the top of the platform’s most watched list in the US at the beginning of 2021, there's no doubt that the seaside resort, only an hour and 30 minutes from our McArthurGlen Paris-Giverny centre, will become an even more popular tourist destination.

Explore Normandy like never before !

We've put together a discovery programme for you...

The Hollow Needle

What gives Etretat its reputation all along the Côte d'Albâtre is first and foremost its iconic ‘hollow needle.’

It became famous thanks to the painter Eugène Isabey in 1820 and was soon a popular hotspot for many renowned painters including Monet, Turner and Boudin.

You can discover it by following the hiking trail but why not try your luck at paddle-boarding?

Le Donjon

After this breath of fresh air, take a trip to Le Donjon, a gastronomic restaurant on the heights of the town which received its first Michelin star in January this year.

Here you'll discover the delicious flavours of the sea in surroundings painted by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

Étretat Gardens

Then on to the Étretat Gardens. Neo-futuristic in design, they extend along these magnificent cliffs, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. These remarkable gardens showcase modern art with a poetic flair.

They're well worth the trip, with their Michelin Green Guide star and their "Remarkable Garden" label. Stay there until sunset...
