Tested and certified in Chamonix, Millet was born in Annecy, at the heart of the French Alps. Since 1921, we have been supporting you—alpinists and lovers of the summits. Our clothing, backpacks, footwear, sleeping bags, and accessories are designed for all your explorations. The mountains are our primary laboratory for testing and learning, and the experience of our community is a true source of innovation for our development teams.

What a journey we’ve shared since the first nylon backpack worn by Walter Bonatti in the 1960s, or Christophe Profit’s Gore-Tex suit in 1987! The Everest boot in 2000, present on the Himalayan 8,000ers. And more recently, the Trilogy 15+ and Pierra Ment Evo packs. All of this equipment meets the same exacting standard—for fast and light mountain pursuits.

From the very beginning, we have supported those who write the history of alpinism: Lachenal, Bonatti, Messner, Profit, Desmaison… and more recently, Charles Dubouloz and Symon Welfringer. Committed to our community, we are partners of the prestigious guide companies of Chamonix, Grindelwald, the Matterhorn, and Hakuba in Japan. This rope-team spirit, shared by all mountain practitioners in their quest for the unknown, inspires us every day.

Millet is also the story of a family ascent. Started by Marc, Hermance took over from her husband in 1938. She brought their sons, René and Raymond, into the adventure. They then began supplying the first backpacks to the great names of alpinism. Today, Romain and Jean-Pierre Millet—respectively the great-grandson and grandson of the founders—continue, with passion, a commitment to ensuring the long-term future of the Millet brand.
