Design For Good Contest Official Rules

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. The Polo Project: Design For Good Contest (the "Contest") begins on May 13, 2020 at 6:00 am ET/11:00 am BST and ends on May 20, 2020 at 11:59:59 pm ET / May 21, 2020 at 4:59:59 am BST (the "Entry Period"). The Contest is sponsored by Ralph Lauren Corporation (“Sponsor”). The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited or restricted by law or regulations. 


By entering, you expressly agree that: (i) you are a legal resident of either the UK or the US who is eighteen (18) years or older; (ii) you have read these Official Rules and agree to them; and (iii) you are permitting Sponsor the right, in its discretion, to further post, use and/or distribute any Design (defined below) you submit, along with your name, in any and all media.


ELIGIBILITY:  The Contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, D.C. and the United Kingdom, ages eighteen (18) or older at the time of entry. Employees, officers or directors of Sponsor, its affiliates, parents, subsidiaries, franchisees, distributors, advertising and promotion agencies (the “Contest Entities”), and the immediate families or household members of each, are ineligible to enter this Contest.


HOW TO ENTER:  Go to or download the Polo App and follow the instructions on how to enter. The Polo App is free to download and use, and can be accessed at You will be required to submit your entry via email to the following email address: Your entry must include (i) your name, (ii) your age, (iii) e-mail address; (iv) phone number; (v) your Polo shirt design (“Design”); and (vi) a few words about the inspiration and meaning behind your Design. The Design must be 16” x 18” at 300dpi in .psd, .tif, .ai, or .jpg format and be an original design inspired by the world today, while incorporating elements of the Ralph Lauren brand – however you envision it.


The Design must be family appropriate and not: (i) feature or reference third party trademarks or logos not belonging to Sponsor; (ii) contain vulgar, obscene or indecent language; or (iii) defame or libel any third party.  The Design must be original, must not have been previously published or won any previous award, and must not contain any material that would infringe upon any third party’s rights.


One (1) entry per person only.  Duplicate submissions for an individual will be disqualified.  In the event two (2) or more people submit substantially similar Designs, only the earliest-received Design will count.


Proof of transmission is not proof of receipt. Sponsor’s designated computer is the only valid official time-keeping device for this Contest.  Incomplete, garbled or late entries are void. In the event of a dispute over the identity of an entrant, entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the submitting e-mail account.   "Authorized account holder" means the natural person assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. Entries that do not comply with these Official Rules or otherwise contain prohibited, or inappropriate content, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion, will be disqualified. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. 


Sponsor may or may not further use, post or distribute any Design submitted by an entrant on online or offline media, in its discretion, but is not obligated to do so.  Sponsor reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to determine if any particular Design is appropriate for the Contest.  


JUDGING/WINNER SELECTION:   The winner selection process will be done in two (2) phases: (1) review by a panel of judges and (2) public voting. Details regarding the two (2) phases are described below.


Panel of Judges

Design submissions will be reviewed by a panel of judges who will select up to a maximum of ten (10) entries to proceed to the public voting round (“Finalists”). Fewer Finalists may be selected if there are not a sufficient number of submissions of sufficient quality as determined by the judges. The Finalists will be chosen based on the following criteria: (i) brand relevance (33%); (ii) artistic skills (33%); and (iii) creativity and originality (34%).


The decisions of the judging panel are final and binding. The Finalists will be selected on or about May 27, 2020.


Public Voting

The Finalists will then proceed to the public voting round.  The public voting round will take place via the Polo App starting at or about June 1, 2020 at 6:00 am ET / 11:00 am BST through June 4, 2020 at 11:59:59 pm ET / June 5, 2020 at 4:59:59 am BST. The Finalist receiving the most valid votes during the public voting round will be the potential Grand Prize Winner. Only one (1) vote per registered user of the Polo App and per Polo App account.  Duplicate votes by the same individual or account will be disqualified. Use of script, macro or any device to automate voting, hiring outsourced vote-farming services, paying for votes, or engaging in any other conduct deemed inappropriate, disruptive or unsportsmanlike as determined by Sponsor in its discretion, is prohibited, and any votes received through such means will be void. Any attempt by any voter or entrant to submit or solicit more than the stated number of votes by using multiple/different email addresses, Polo App accounts, identities, or any other method, will void that person’s votes and entry (if any), and he/she may be disqualified from further voting or other participation in the Contest.  


GRAND PRIZE WINNER NOTIFICATION: The potential Grand Prize Winner will be notified via email on or about June 8, 2020, with instructions on how to contact Sponsor.  Failure to contact Sponsor within five (5) days after such notification may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. The potential Grand Prize Winner may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, prize/publicity release, and an assignment of rights to his/her Design within two (2) days after delivery of same to the potential Winner.  Failure to sign the required documents during this timeframe may result in disqualification and award of the Grand Prize Winner to an alternate winner.  If a potential eligible Grand Prize Winner is deemed a minor under the laws of his/her place of residence, documents must be signed by his or her parent or legal guardian.


GRAND PRIZE: One (1) Grand Prize is available: A Ralph Lauren gift card for US $500.00 (or a Ralph Lauren gift card for GBP 500, if Grand Prize Winner is a UK resident), plus the opportunity to have the winning Design made into a limited-edition Polo shirt to be sold by Sponsor with one hundred percent (100%) of the final purchase price donated by Sponsor to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, a global effort supporting countries to prevent, detect, and respond to the pandemic.  Sponsor reserves the right to determine if any of the Designs, including but not limited to the winning Design, is of sufficient quality to be included on a shirt to be sold by Sponsor.  In the event none of the Designs is of sufficient quality, Sponsor reserves the right not to include any of the Designs on any shirts.  In no event will the Grand Prize Winner be entitled to any payment of any kind with respect to the sale of any shirts incorporating his/her Design. No prize substitution by Grand Prize Winner or cash equivalent is allowed; the Grand Prize cannot be sold, auctioned, exchanged or bartered for cash, otherwise it is void. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize for one of equal or greater value if any advertised portion of the prize becomes unavailable.  Taxes, if any, due as a result of the receipt of the prize are the responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner.  


RELEASE/INDEMNIFICATION: By participating in this Contest and/or by accepting any prize that you may be awarded, you agree that Sponsor and its subsidiaries and affiliated companies, units and divisions; and each of their respective advertising and promotional agencies and prize suppliers; each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees; and each of these companies' and individuals' respective successors, representatives and assigns (collectively, the "Indemnified Parties") shall not be liable for any and all actions, claims, including any third party claims, injury, loss or damage arising in any manner, directly or indirectly, arising from or relating to this Contest, including entry and participation in this Contest, or the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize.  


By entering this Contest or participating in the voting portion of this Contest, you further agree that (i) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with the Contest, or any prizes awarded, shall be resolved individually without resort to any form of class action; (ii) any claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the Contest, but in no event attorney’s fees; (iii) under no circumstances will any entrant be permitted to obtain any award for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental or consequential damages and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased and any other damages, other than damages for actual out-of-pocket expenses; (iv) this Contest and any disputes relating hereto shall be governed by the internal laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to principles of conflicts of laws; and (v) any disputes relating to the Contest shall be heard exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York City, and you hereby consent and waive any objection to the jurisdiction of said courts for any such dispute.   For    F


FoFor residents of the UK:  Nothing in these Official Rules limits or excludes the liability of the Indemnified Parties for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Indemnified Parties. 


By participating in the Contest and/or accepting any prize that you may be awarded, unless prohibited by law, you agree to fully indemnify each Indemnified Party from any and all claims by third parties arising out of your Design and/or your breach of any of the terms and conditions set forth herein.


The Indemnified Parties shall not be liable for: (i) late, lost, delayed, stolen, misdirected, incomplete, unreadable, inaccurate, garbled or unintelligible entries, communications or submissions, or votes, regardless of the method of transmission; (ii) telephone system, telephone or computer hardware, software or other technical or computer malfunctions, lost connections, disconnections, delays or transmission errors; (iii) data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entry, votes or other materials; (iv) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by your participation in this Contest or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize; or (v) any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any materials associated with the Contest. The Indemnified Parties disclaim any liability for damage to any phone, computer or other electronic device resulting from participating in, or accessing or downloading information in connection with this Contest.  By participating in the Contest (including voting), you (i) agree to be bound by these official rules, including all eligibility requirements, and (ii) agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all respects.  Failure to comply with these official rules may result in disqualification from the Contest.  Sponsor reserves the right to: (i) permanently disqualify from any contest it sponsors any person it believes has intentionally violated these official rules; and (ii) suspend, modify or terminate the Contest if Sponsor believes, in its sole discretion, that malfunction, error, disruption or damage is impairing or will impair the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conducting of the Contest. If Contest is terminated before the end date, Sponsor will seek, to the extent possible, to determine the Winner from all eligible entries and eligible votes, if any, received as of the termination date. 


General: You hereby grant an unrestricted, non-exclusive, and irrevocable license to Sponsor, Sponsor's affiliates, partners and designees, and their respective agents and agencies, to publish, use, sell, adapt, edit and/or modify your Design submission in any way, in any and all media worldwide, including but not limited to use on shirts to be sold as contemplated in these Official Rules, without further consideration.  If we receive a report from a third party relating to the failure to comply with these Rules (including but not limited to an entrant’s violation of a third party’s intellectual property or privacy rights), we will investigate the report and the entry may be disqualified if necessary.  In addition, the Sponsor may take legal action against the entrant responsible for the Design submission, including with respect to the indemnification set forth above. You also agree that you will not use your Design submission for any commercial purposes other than in connection with this Contest; nothing restricts your own personal use.  If Sponsor so elects, any entrant may be required to submit to a confidential background check.  Such background check may include (but is not limited to) investigation of employment history, criminal or other arrest or conviction record, and any other factor deemed relevant by the Sponsor to help ensure that the entrant will not, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, bring the Sponsor into public disrepute, contempt, scandal or ridicule or reflect unfavorably on the Sponsor.  If requested, the entrant must agree to sign waiver forms authorizing the release of personal and background information.

For Grand Prize Winner’s Name:  The Grand Prize Winner’s name will be posted on,, Polo’s Instagram channel, Ralph Lauren’s Facebook page and the Polo App on or about June 16, 2020.


FOR UK ONLY – DATA PROTECTION: The data controller is the Sponsor.  Any data collected online from persons notified of win will be used to administer the Contest.  The recipient of such data is the Sponsor for the purpose of administering the Contest (and the data could be transferred to Sponsor’s group companies for the same purpose).  You have the right to access, modify, rectify and withdraw your personal data by contacting the data protection officer via the form available at  If you withdraw your data or oppose the collection or processing, you will be deemed to cancel your participation in the Contest. Your data will be collected and processed in the US where laws may not provide an equivalent level of protection to the United Kingdom.


Entrants' personal data collected in connection with the Contest will be used only to administer the Contest (including sending and receiving communications related to the Contest) and for no other purpose. Entrants who refuse to provide the required personal data may not be able to participate in the Contest.


Entrants may unsubscribe from the Sponsor’s promotional communications at any time.
