This April, we're giving you the opportunity to upcycle your wardrobe and give it new lease of life ahead of the new season, working alongside industry expert Kimberly Hart-Simpson, Founder and Owner of Hartwork to create a series of upcycling workshops for you to learn valuable skills!
RENEW
10:30AM - 12PM @ Under The Oak (located opposite Nike)
An exclusive up-cycling event, hosted by Hart- Work’s, Kimberley Hart-Simpson. Each attendee will be invited to bring along an item of clothing (or choose an item from our pre-loved rail), to rework into something they would be proud to wear now, all under the instruction and expert-eye of Kimberly. Hart-Work will host a session at the beginning of the event, giving you tips on recycling and upcycling your clothing, to stop it going into landfill and helping you to make the move to living more sustainably. You’ll be given helpful tips and tricks to take away with you and start your journey to become an upcycling expert… and more than that, you’ll have loads of fun! No experience necessary as this is a guided workshop.
RECREATE
12:15PM - 1:30PM @ Under The Oak (located opposite Nike)
We want to invite our younger guests to come and create their very own personalised tote bags with a mixture of recycled fabrics / paints and embellishment. The tote bags / stencils will all be provided, so the only thing you need to bring is yourselves. While we are making our fabulous creations, we will talk all about upcycling and why it’s important to avoid as much waste going to landfill as possible. We will also give parents and children, takeaway craft skills and ideas which they can recreate at home easily. Children have the opportunity to hang and leave the bags to dry to be collected later. Please note, there is no age limit but under 18s will need to be supervised throughout the event. No experience necessary as this is a guided workshop.
REPAIR
2PM - 3PM @ Under The Oak (located opposite Nike)
A seamstress guided workshop, which aims to teach people practical skills to takeaway on repairing and adjusting their own clothing, at home with minimal effort. Participants can either bring along an item of clothing which they need adjusting and be guiding in how best to tackle the challenge, or you can practice on items from our rails, which you are welcome to take away with you free of charge. You will be shown several best practice examples in real time, to learn skills which can be used in everyday life, bringing more life to clothing which needs an adjustment, rather than it heading to landfill. No experience necessary as this is a guided workshop.
RESTYLE
3:30PM - 4:30PM @ Under The Oak (located opposite Nike)
This restyling workshop presents the opportunity to turn your old clothing into a fashionable cushion for your home, instead of them heading for landfill. All equipment /samples/fabrics/second hand clothing will be provided but please feel free to bring your own fabrics/old clothing to be regenerated into your own personal piece. A seamstress will be on hand to provide you with all the tips and tricks to create your own masterpiece. No experience necessary as this is a guided workshop.
