Chunky knitwear
Knitwear is big, baggy and bold for him this season, with oversized styles leading the way. Take a leaf out of Dolce & Gabbana’s book and opt for a floor-skimming scarf, slung loose around your neck, or channel Off-White with a long-line cardigan.  

Cable knits and slouchy shapes are key AW20 knitwear staples; so seek out roomy styles in chunky wools and cashmere (the bigger, the better). A loose-fit cardigan from Ben Sherman or Reiss is exactly the look you’re aiming for, while a chunky scarf from Gant or Crew Clothing will earn you extra kudos.  

Prints & patterns
Men’s knitwear is embracing a brighter side in AW20, with bold patterns and retro prints coming through in a kaleidoscope of dark and bright shades. Argyle is back in a big way, so keep an eye out for cardigans or jumpers that bear this classic diamond check, sticking with either natural hues or contrasting colours for 70s authenticity.  

For a look that really throws it back, pair heavy knits from the likes of Paul Smith and Ben Sherman with a corduroy or checked tailored trouser from Reiss, or opt for a more subtle 70s influence with a flared jean from Levi's in relaxed washed denim.
