How to plant your giant sunflower seeds
Planting your sunflower seeds outdoors:
1. Sow outdoors between the months of March-May.
2. Sow 1.5cm (½") deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-drained soil, which has already been watered.
3. Sow two seeds together every 45cm (18").
4. Seedlings usually appear in 14-21 days. Remove the weaker plant, which can be transplanted if desired.
5. Water well until young plants are established.
Flowers: June to September.
Planting your sunflower seeds indoors:
1. Sow indoors between the months of March-May.
2. Sow 1.5cm (½") deep, individually in small pots of compost.
3. Water well and place in a cold frame or greenhouse.
4. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out, May-June, 45cm (18") apart.
Flowers: June to September.
Top Tip! Yogurt pots make excellent, readily available seeding containers.
