Design A Smile

McArthurGlen teamed up with budding junior artists from across the UK to design one of a kind face coverings

Purchase the winning designs from across the UK to keep you safe when you shop.

We have teamed up with Cambridge Road Primary School to launch Design a Smile, a creative project which supports the local community and highlights the importance of working together to keep each other safe from Covid-19. Cheshire Oaks asked the pupils from the primary local school to design their own face coverings inspired by smiles and positivity. Katie Piper, TV presenter and campaigner, then selected a winning design to be manufactured and sold in the centre.

In line with the English Government’s latest announcement, non-essential retail stores at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet are currently closed. When our stores re-open, you will be able to purchase Cambridge Road Primary School’s winning face covering at Guest Services for £3 or 2 for £5, with 100% of the proceeds donated back to the school.

What was your inspiration?
My cat was my inspiration. When I was younger, I had a little black and white cat called Maddie which I loved a lot. We used to sit and cuddle up on the sofa all day.

What does your design represent?
It represents my cat and I wanted to remind myself of all the good times that I shared with it. I would like others to share the happiness that I feel inside when I think about my fond memories with my cat.

Any tips to keep smiling during COVID19?

The rainbow hearts represent the love that always humans need to have for one another - no matter what colour or ethnicity they are. ‘Be Safe’ is a reminder for everyone to follow restrictions so that we can beat COVID-19 as a team.

What was your inspiration?

I thought about who would wear it because children under 11 don’t need to wear a face mask so I didn’t want to make the design too babyish for teenagers and adults to wear. I chose the globe because we are in a global pandemic and every part of the world is being affected by the virus. The words I chose represent the world coming together as one to support each other.

What does your design represent?

My design represents that nobody is in this alone and everyone is here for each other as we are all in the same position.

Any tips to keep smiling during COVID19?

If I’m feeling down, I try my best to find something that makes me laugh - usually my sister!

Handwriting preference: Left-handed

Favourite Colour: Yellow

What was your inspiration?
I had seen lots of masks with smiles or emoji faces on them and I wanted to do something like that which would stand out.

What does your design represent?
It shows us that even though other people can't see you smiling, they will see your eyes smiling. There is still a smile behind there.

Any tips to keep smiling during COVID19?
Just keep thinking on the positive and happy side of things and smile as much as you can.
